How to Become a Successful Public Speaker?
Being a speaker is a challenging and rewarding profession. But speaker is not really a profession you go to college for and learn it from the ground up. Usually you have to become a professional of some kind first and succeed in a certain field of trade. The next step could be to become a speaker and to use your industry experience as the foundation. One of the most important things an avid speaker can do to enhance his career is trying to become an authority in a specific subject area. The speaker needs to reach a point where people automatically think of him when they are looking for information on a certain topic or are looking for a speaker for their event. Become a good speaker in...

Public Speaking: How to Make a Point with Humor
One of the old saws of public speaking says that you should 'Tell em what you're gonna tell 'em. Tell 'em. Then tell 'em what you told 'em.' When you want to make a point during your presentation, you can use a similar formula. You tell 'em the point, illustrate the point, then tell 'em the point again. This formula, however, can seem boring and redundant if you don't spice it up a little. One way to do it is to use humor. Here's the formula: 1. Make your point. 2. Illustrate your point (in our example below we're using a humorous two-liner, but you could use props, humorous props, funny stories, serious stories, case studies, etc.) 3. Restate your point. Here's an example where your...

Public Speaking Tips For Kids

Author:
James Masterson

Public speaking is one skill that kids should enhance. Aside from practice, public speaking for kids requires personal coaching. Personal coaching includes the development of self-confidence and the effort on helping kids to improve their public speaking skills. For beginners it is important that they undergo this kind of learning to have a better public speaking approach.

Kids have their own skills and abilities on how to deliver a presentation. It is up to the coach to bring out that natural skill in them. The kid only needs to listen and internalize all the things that the coach will teach.

If you are the kid being trained, you will be introduced to an approach in public speaking that can be convenient to you. The coach will not attempt to change your style and be different to other speakers; although speakers seem to be more effective if the audience finds him unique in his public speaking.

The coach will try to enhance your own skills and talents that are already present in you. You can expect comments and feedback from your coach during the training process. He will provide you the much needed guidance and specific knowledge for the coach is obliged to produce a better result in your training. Here are some reasons why you will need a personal coach:

- You may ask for a coach if you need help on a specific presentation that is very important to you.

-If you want to concentrate on specific communication and speaking issues that are covered in general workshops and seminars.

-If you have encountered sessions and workshops that progress slowly and are too standard or maybe do not get your interest.

-When you are too busy to attend trainings because you cannot choose just one that can answer your needs.

-If you are not comfortable in the team setting or you may feel that your speaking skills are on a much higher level.

-If you have undergone public communication and speaking lessons before and you may need additional knowledge and enhancement.

-If you have found you work much better and develop faster with a personal approach.

Getting a personal coach does not mean you are a slow learner or have poor communication skills. There are many reasons why will you need to have a personal coach, as mentioned in the above list.

Coaching can be just like that, like any sport where a team needs a coach to perform well and be guided on the executions. For a child that wants to be trained in public speaking as early as in his early childhood, it could be better if the child is already trained on how to address and interact to other people by means of public speaking.

Humorous Motivational Speaker - What To Look For In A Speaker
The process of becoming a professional humorous motivational speaker really never occurred to me. I was going along with my life paying attention to the normal stuff, family, work, and friends. And then it was suggested that I attend the Players Workshop of The Second City, one of the oldest and most prestigious improvisational comedy schools in the world, located right in my own backyard, Chicago. This is where I decided to embark on a professional humorous motivational speaking career. Being a humorous motivational speaker and trying to motivate people is a difficult business, influenced by a myriad of psychological and environmental factors which alter from person to person, from company to company and from manager to manager. Then try to add humor to the equation and you have the need for a professional humorous motivational speaker. Many humorous motivational speakers are members of the National Speakers Association and have access to other humorous motivational speakers to share ideas and try out their new material. If you have managed people you know that there is always a need for some fun and frivolity in the workplace and this is where a humorous motivational speaker can help increase employee morale and retention. Some Managers are incapable of adapting their management style and behavior to cater to the differences in people to be able to motivate all those whom he or she is responsible for. This is where humor is a tool to provide you with a competitive advantage in the marketplace and a humorous motivational speaker can add value to any company meeting or function. It is extremely important to consider how we interact with others and the impact the humorous motivational speaker will have on the behavior and values of employees and others. Some...

5 Ways to Use Public Speaking to Build Your Client Base
I'd give anything to travel back in time and tell my eight-year-old self that I'd eventually build a business from public speaking.
